Great Performers of Illinois in Millennium Park presents over 90 performers from across the state, as well as wine tastings, and activities that the whole family can enjoy. The three day festival is FREE and open to the public from Friday, July 18 - Sunday, July 20, 2008.

About Millennium Park

Completed in 2004, Millennium Park is an award-winning center for art, music, architecture, and landscape design. The result of a unique partnership between the City of Chicago and the philanthropic community, the 24.5-acre park features the work of world-renowned architects, planners, artists and designers. Millennium Park features the popular Cloud Gate sculpture, interactive Crown Fountain, Lurie Garden and the impressive Jay Pritzker Pavilion, which hosts dozens of free concerts every year. Millennium Park is proud to host the third annual Great Performers of Illinois festival, right in the heart of Chicago!

Location

Food and Refreshments

Millennium Park offers two full-service restaurants, the Park Grill and the Park Grill on the Plaza, as well as the Park Café and concessions throughout the park. In celebration of the Great Performers of Illinois, the Park Grill and its concessions will offer Illinois food specialties including chilled corn soup with crawfish and curry oil, slow-cooked local pork with an apple ginger glaze, slow-cooked greens, chocolate brownie sundae, caramelized banana, bacon roasted peanuts and butterscotch, parmesan and truffle popcorn with black pepper and grilled lamb sausage with feta cheese and kalamata olives with tatziki sauce. Sample Illinois wines!

Several wineries will offer tastings of their Illinois-grown wines. Featured wineries will include Baxter’s Vineyard, Fox Valley Winery, Mary Michele Winery, and August Hill Winery.

Chicago Greeter – Millennium Park Tours

While in the park, be sure to take a free park tour with Millennium Park Greeters. This walking tour is a delightful introduction to the park's development, art and architecture. Tours depart from the Millennium Park Welcome Center, located at 201 E. Randolph Street, at 11:30 a.m. and 1 p.m.

Millennium Park is fully accessible to all patrons, and features the following. Wheelchair loans in the Millennium Park Welcome Center, 201 E. Randolph Street.

  • Wheelchair accessible restrooms
  • Assistive Listening Devices at the Jay Pritzker Pavilion Sound Booth
  • Visitor Information Center in the Chicago Cultural Center

If you plan to explore the city, be sure to stop by the Visitor Information Center for maps, brochures and information on the latest events. It’s just across the street from Millennium Park in the Chicago Cultural Center.
